Ki Nassauer from Junk Revolution is doing awesome stuff with junk again - she made this totally adorable four-poster cat bed from an old table. Oliver the cat looks quite pleased.

Goodwill samovar

My friend Mad Maxine scored an awesome old samovar at Goodwill the other day - she has a great post on her blog about how it works. It reminds me a bit of a rocket stove - it uses very small amounts of fuel very efficiently.

Recycled hand-tool shed

I really love this kind of simple and creative re-use - Sadge at the Simple Green Frugal Co-op used a garage sale mailbox as a hand-tool storage shed!

Ugliest light fixture re-make

Ki Nassauer of Junk Revolution makes the most amazing things out of junk - she has a great eye for seeing the potential in stuff. She recently had an Ugliest Light Fixture in the World Contest asking her commenters for ideas about what to do with a truly horrible light fixture. There were some great [...]

Smith and Hawken is selling these vertical gardens (looks like they’re sold out). Repurposed rain gutters

Wow - I wouldn’t have thought that gutters could hold enough dirt to grow actual vegetables! (though I’ve had little ferns grow in mine) This gutter garden belongs to Cornelia, who posted on Homegrown. This is a great use for salvaged gutters, and I love how it looks against the house. I’d be a bit [...]

Recycled barrel chair

Most chairs made out of barrels look really uncomfortable - Monkeybrad has put together an Instructable for a chair that I think I could actually sit in for more than five minutes. Plus it’s blue.

Shipping pallet outdoor furniture

Re-nest has before-and-after pictures of cathinca’s shipping pallet furniture. This is out on her deck, but if you had a big space and needed cheap furniture, it would work really well, too.
