You don’t have to get as fancy as Anna the Red to do bentos, they can be really simple (though I’ve noticed a lot of bento makers tend to really go over the top). And they can be really frugal - there’s a lot of planning ahead, and using leftovers. Plus bento boxes are charming. Here are some of my favorite Internet bento places:
